Le Cheminel

This beautiful lake dates back to at least 1700 and is one of the ‘Cassini’ lakes, created by nuns to supply them with carp for the table.  The Lake is 20 acres in size and is located deep within a broad-leaved oak forest.

This lake is truly in one of the finest settings you will come across and the fishing experience positively memorable too.

Purchased by the current owner in 2007 the lake had never been used for fishing, only duck shooting.  It is a dammed lake that is spring-fed with extensive reed beds all around the water’s edge, a small island and approximately one acre of lily pads.  Depths range from three to seven feet.

Down a 1500 metre track, this stunning lake in the Belval Forest is a haven for wildlife, including deer, wild boar, red squirrels, kingfishers, egrets, owls and at certain times of the year the lake has been visited by osprey.
